CPSY 380 - Conflict Prevention and Resolution |
This course examines various theories and strategies from peace studies, psychology, and counseling of conflict prevention and resolution, and transformative mediation. The course will help students to develop basic personal and professional skills in understanding, preventing, and reconciling conflicts that can occur with different individuals, and in diverse contexts and systems. The role and importance of emotions, active listening, finding common ground, empathy, respect, and problem-solving in preventing and resolving disputes between individuals, groups, and systems will be emphasized. Along with acquiring knowledge, students will practice employing conflict prevention and resolution skills.
