Scientific investigation on an individual basis under the supervision of a faculty member. Extensive reading, experimental work, and development of research techniques and skills. Prerequisite: permission of the department chairperson. A total of 5 credits may be earned (3 towards major), but no more than 3 in any one semester or term. No more than 3 credits may be counted as electives toward any departmental major.
