MATH 100 - Mathematics for Elementary Teachers 1
Introduction to mathematics for elementary teachers, with a focus on building mathematical proficiency -- strategic competence, adaptive reasoning, productive disposition, conceptual understanding, and procedural fluency. In-depth exploration of numbers and the base-ten system, addition and subtraction, and multiplication and division, including analysis of children's mathematical thinking and connections to the elementary mathematics curriculum. Open only to teaching majors in elementary, special, or early childhood education, or with permission from the department chair.
