MUST 105 - Foundations of Music Theory for Music Majors |
This course covers the rudiments of music notation and theory. Students will learn staff notation using four different clefs, all durations of notes and rests, meter and how to notate rhythm correctly in different meters, major and minor scales and key signatures, all triads, and all seventh chords. This course provides the foundation for success in the music theory sequence required of all music majors, which is in turn a prerequisite for most other required music courses. It will cover the materials necessary to begin the theory sequence, but more importantly, it will focus on gaining fluency with the materials that is necessary for success in all musical endeavors. This course is only open to music majors or minors.
