MUST 310 - Form and Analysis of Popular Music
Analysis course focusing on form, harmony, melody, and rhythm in popular music from 1955-present. The focus will primarily be on rock styles, but will also include RnB, heavy metal, soul, and various pop styles. The goal of the course is to introduce the student to analytical methodologies appropriate for the analysis of popular music. Regular transcription exercises strengthen the student's aural skills and understanding of the music. Prerequisite: MUST 201 and MUST 211.
