ARCH 340 - Introduction to Historic Preservation for Architects |
The introduction of historic preservation in the context of architectural practice. Students will become familiar with the significant public and private Preservation agencies and organizations, along with the roles they play in the Preservation movement. The legal basis of preservation will be surveyed, as well as the process for documenting, designating, and protecting historic properties. Preservation treatment and re-use options will be discussed in light of conservation, sustainability and cultural continuity. Open only to B. ARCH; BA/BS architecture; BA/BS environmental design.
