BIO 630 - Scientific Communications |
Students learn the skills required for scientific communications. Topics include proper word use, sentence structure, and paragraph organization; manuscript structure and preparation (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion); presentation of graphics and figures; references and formatting; manuscript submission, the editorial process and response to peer review; meeting and paper abstracts; scientific posters and oral presentations; strategies for effective project proposals; and communicating with non-expert audiences. Intended for any student in the life sciences and is not subdiscipline specific.
Prerequisite: permission of the instructor.
