SPAA 631 - Augmentative and Alternative Communication for People with Complex Communication Needs |
Examines assessment and treatment considerations for people across the lifespan with complex communication needs including ALS, CP, Autism, and Down Syndrome. Topics addressed include aided and unaided communication, speech generated devices, mobile technologies, symbol selection, vocabulary and messaging selection, rate enhancement, alternative access, goal selection, Medicare/Medicaid funding, and report writing. Open only to SLP graduate students or permission of the department chairperson.
