Exp Stud Success in Higher Ed - 25484 - EDHI 690 - 1C | ||||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
While colleges and universities embrace the aspiration of student success, they continue to grapple with how to define, measure, and structure student success initiatives. In this seminar, we start by unpacking the challenges that emerge from responding to three important questions:
What does student success mean, both for the institution and the student?
How do we measure student success?
What should the campus structures that support student success look like?
Over the semester, we also scrutinize the role of learning centers, academic advising, career services, and academic coaching in the context of student success. Finally, we examine a framework for student success grounded in four bodies of research: care, identity consciousness, high impact practices, and sense of belonging.
